My photography

I would not call myself anything but an amateur photographer, but the artistic and creative process behind a good photo has become a dear hobby of mine over the last couple of years.

My photos tend to be highly stylized as I am always going for a specific aesthetic. Currently, my favorite motifs are landscapes, cityscapes, and wildlife.

Below you can scroll through a selection of some of my photography projects.

A feast for an otter (2023)

During a stay in Nasville, TN in spring 2023, I spent some mornings at Long Hunter State Park to take wildlife photos. Little did I know that I would be sharing my packed breakfast sandwich with an otter eager to show off his catch for the camera.

Searching for Yoknapatawpha (2022)

In late June 2022 I spent three days in Oxford, Mississippi. As I was preparing to write my B.A. thesis on William Faulkner's Snopes trilogy, I sought the author's fictional Yonapatawpha County in and around the town. The photos in this project document what I imagine are places that might have inspired Faulkner.

Snowstorm (2022)

Between Septermber 2021 and June 2022 I studied at Oberlin College, Ohio. During this time, my interest in photography really kicked off and I spent many hours exploring the town and surrounding nature reserves and state parks. My favourite series from that time is this documentation of Oberlin's campus during a blizzard.
